Letter in Morley Observer and Advertiser, 9th July 2008 Following on from my letter of last week regarding the potential referendum on the election of a Mayor as opposed to the appointment of the Mayor by his or her councillor peers – I really did want to come back to the main point which was omitted from the publication last week. Of much more vital interest to readers, and even more to so Morley Town Council precept payers, will be the potential damage – and incurred expense – of the industrial tribunal between the toen council and the former town clerk which was originally scheduled to be heard last week but was unfortunately postponed. Whilst not attempting to prejudice any outcome, if the case does go against the town council and in favour of the former town council clerk, there may not even be a town council to elect a Mayor to in future!
