Letter in Morley Observer and Advertiser 5/4/06 In last week’s paper a claim was made by the new Morley Borough Independent candidate, Terry Elliot, has a strong commitment to communities in Morley but this is the same person who was instrumental in the removal of an independent Morley Magistrates Court, which had existed for over 100 years. In 2001 Terry Elliot was chairman of the West Yorkshire Magistrates Court Committee that recommended the closure of an independent Morley Magistrates Court and ensured that another piece of Morley’s separate identity would disappear forever to be merged into a largely anonymous Leeds based service.
